A Universal Understanding of God
By Robin Volker When we use the term "Universe," we are not just referring to the expanse of planets, stars, and
galaxies out there in space. We are referring to a larger idea of Creator God that takes God out of the box, or for some, out of the image of the big man in
the sky. When we say "Universe," it means the creative energy that transcends all creation itself. It is bigger than the expanse of anything we can
define. Eric Butterworth calls it, "The Allness." It is what we mean when we say God is omnipresent. God is present in all things, at all points of creation,
in all expressions. God is – period! Let's pause here and think on this idea. Whatever is going on in your life, God is present in that situation. God is in
all things, people, and circumstances. There is no spot where God is not. Let us be still and contemplate this Truth. Whatever is your prayer today, whatever is your need,
God is already present at the point of your desire. God is the Presence behind that very desire that is actually God-life coming forth through you. As the
Psalmist wrote, "Be still and know that I am God." We use that still moment to turn away from our wanting and recognize that what we desire is already here.
