     Be Here Now

Dear Unity Friends,

Unity in Community is on a news diet, and we invite you to join us.  The news these days is filled with reports of woe.  Stocks are down.  Gas prices are up.  Businesses are closing.  There is much talk of foreclosure and bank difficulties.  If we want to feel bad in our bodies, all we have to do is watch the evening news.  Seems that nothing good happens on any given day.  Each news broadcast would have you think this was the end of time.

Some New Thought teachers call this "Mental Poisoning."  We know that what we focus on, we create.  As the whole country turns to thoughts of recession and lack, what is going to be the experience of the masses?  Recession and lack.

All this talk of gloom and doom is telling us that the future is going to be terrible.  There won't be enough water in the Great Lakes for shipping; we won't be able to safely travel the country or the world.  Our children will be uneducated and will starve or die of some terrible pandemic!

How can we counteract all this negativity?  We can begin right here, right now, today, by turning away from the negative news reports and turning our attention to the simple experience of gratitude in the present moment.

We are not victims of an absent God who has forgotten about us and abandoned us.  God is here.  So are we.  And we are creating this moment together in divine perfection.

When we turn our focus here to this moment, we can begin to feel relief.  With gratitude for this moment, we recognize that we are safe and comfortable.  All our needs are being met in this moment.

Eckhart Tolle explains how this principle works in his bestselling book, The Power of Now:  "The moment your attention turns to the Now, you feel a presence, a stillness, a peace. You no longer depend on the future for fulfillment and satisfaction -- you don't look to it for salvation.... You have found the life underneath your life situation."

Let us set aside our fears and thoughts of the future and be here now, embracing this moment in its richness and fullness, trusting that we are safe.  We are in right place.  We are here, and so is God, and that, my friends, is enough.

Namaste`
Rev. Robin
