by Robin VolkerThis month, Unity in Community begins a twelve-month study of
Charles Fillmore's Twelve Powers. The Twelve Powers are qualities or aspects of the God Nature as expressed through human beings.
There are twelve such attributes that Charles Fillmore taught repeatedly in his pioneering of the Unity Movement. These Powers are Faith, Love, Strength, Wisdom, Power, Imagination,
Understanding, Will, Order, Enthusiasm, Release, and Life.
The other day I saw a television commercial that featured a lovely
middle-class woman who talked about her dedication to customer service in her work. She was an employee of Time Warner Cable,
and she stressed her commitment to giving excellent customer care. At the end of her spiel, she said, "My name is Joanne, and I am Time Warner Cable!"
As that TV commercial ended, I wondered to myself, "What if we all took these Twelve Powers as seriously as this woman takes her job
with Time Warner Cable?" Hmm? What would that look like? What would it be like to live with so much
faith that I could say, "My name is Robin, and I am FAITH!" Why don't you try it? "My name is _____________, and I am LOVE!"
The amazing thing is that we already have these Twelve Powers. We don't have to go buy them or go
somewhere to find them or study under a guru. They came with us in this physical manifestation. In some
of us, they may be highly visible and used regularly. In others of us, they may be sleeping and rarely used. We use our Twelve Powers all the time – here's the kicker –
according to our understanding of them! So if we want to experience more faith, we need to understand that faculty or power; if we want more love or
to love more, we need to understand the Power of Love.
By joining Unity in Community during the next thirteen months, (we will take the
month of December off for Advent), you will be afforded a magnificent opportunity in spiritual growth and development. We invite you to stir up the power of God
within you and join us on this journey.
See you on Sunday for "Faith is the Foundation."
Namaste`
