As I write this communication to you, I
sit in the tranquility of the Inner Prayer Garden at the Silent Unity building at Unity Village. Though there are many delightful places to pray here at The Village, this lovely inner courtyard is my
favorite. The summer sky is brilliant blue; the breeze blows down from the rooftop and stirs the leaves of the pear trees. Lovely flowers accent the beds lining the walls. At the center of the
garden stands a water fountain. In the northeast corner of the building, a corner stone bears the words of Rev. John Strickland, who was the director of Silent Unity when this building was constructed. Rev.
John wrote, "Christ is our inspiration. Faith is our fountain. Prayer is our work."
Up above is Unity's Prayer Vigil Room, where "the light always shines for
you," In this sacred room, hundreds and thousands of names of people from all over the world are prayed for each and every day. These prayers continue 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
In this prayer vigil room, prayer never stops.
What a comfort it is to know that someone is always praying. Each name received here is held in prayer for 30 days. In the sacred silence, The Christ
is called to awareness for each and every situation and circumstance.
Friends, in a time of stillness that you set aside to experience God in you and as you today, imagine you are here with me in the Unity
Prayer Garden. Feel the warm air and the stirring breeze. See the beauty of the trees and flowers. And hear the bubbling rhythm of the fountain.
Turn within and allow your mind to quiet as you
share a few moments of silent communion with Creator God. This is a time of rest and renewal. The presence of God is with you and in you in this moment and always.
Peace and blessings from Unity Village, Missouri.
Robin
