Dear Unity Friends,
May the light of love be shining deep within your spirit May the torch of mercy clear the path and show the way May the horn of plenty sound so everyone can hear it May the light of love be with you every day"
-David Roth These beautiful words from David Roth's song, "May the Light of Love," are a perfect Thanksgiving greeting. As we
turn our thoughts towards gratitude, we may find it easy to recount the blessings of the year almost complete. We pause to give thanks for our health, our families, our work, our friends, and our spiritual journey. In
giving thanks for all the "good" things in our lives, we are giving thanks for all the "God" things for we use the terms "good" and "God" interchangeably. This act of gratitude
seals those good things in completeness, much like God's review of his work of creation in Genesis, where each day He declared "it good." Thanksgiving is not only about looking back and saying,
"thank you" for what has been manifested and established in our lives. It is also about looking forward and giving thanks in advance as we activate God Power in our lives, as exampled by Jesus when he fed the
multitudes and raised the dead. He lifted his eyes toward heaven, thereby fixing his attention on His spiritual source. He gave thanks in advance for He understood that the Father knew His request even before He uttered
it. Why gives thanks? Gratitude opens our hearts. It opens us to receive what is already ours, what is already available to us. Through gratitude, we tap into the well-spring of God's abundant goodness.
"It is the Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."
By being thankful, we open our consciousness to receive more. The supply of good is always available. Through gratitude and thanksgiving, we set our vibration to receive more of that which we appreciate.
Often times after speaking to the people, or working His miracles, Jesus would withdraw from the crowd and go apart for awhile to a mountain or a garden for prayer. In these moments, He would refill Himself and
replenish His spiritual energy. I encourage all of us to find the time this Thanksgiving holiday to "go apart for awhile" and spend some time giving thanks for what has been, what is to be, and for the active
movement of God in and through our lives. Happy Thanksgiving, Robin
