Dear Unity Friends,This week's inspiration is written by my friend, Rev. Jan Seward. This Sunday,
Rev. Jan will expand on this thought, "Where's The Good?"...
On page 359 of our Unity hymnbook is a song titled, "We Make Our Own World." The lyrics by Carmen
Moshier go...
"We make our own world, wherever we are. Our happiness
is of our own making. We make our own world, wherever we are.
Our happiness then is for the taking. Our world goes with us as we talk and walk along each day. Our world can be a
heaven or hell, our attitudes will say. We make our own world, wherever we are. Let's make it happy, let's live in beauty.
We make our own world, wherever we are. Keep thinking happy, we'll make a new world!"
Ernest Holmes wrote in his book, Science of Mind
, "We are in the world and of it, and it is good that it is so. The world is all right when we view it correctly. Hidden in everything there is a seed of Perfection."
When we call something bad, that becomes our reality of it, so when we say the world is going to heck, in our minds, it is. We find ways to validate our
conclusions and discover even more bad news. It's likely that things aren't any worse---it just seems they are because today we have instant access to excessive amounts of information.
But could it be possible that knowing about these so-called 'tribulations of the world' may actually serve us?
Paul writes in Romans 5:3-5,
"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance,
character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."
As we change the way we think, our world changes with us. Why not look for what is right with the world and with your life? Give thanks for it and feel good about it!
"We make our own world, wherever we are.
Let's make it happy, let's live in beauty!
Keep thinking happy, we'll make a new world!"
Continued joy,
Rev. Jan Seward
