Hello Unity Friends, The forsythia bushes popped their blooms
today! This is a sure sign that spring is here. The wives' tale proclaims that snow will fall three more times after the forsythia blooms. But you couldn't tell it today. Not only is the
forsythia in bloom, the daffodils, crocuses, and bluebells are brightening the landscape where only a couple of weeks ago they slept beneath inches of frozen snow. In Ohio, we can't trust that ole' man Winter is
gone until December. As bright and cheery as the past few days have been, we may be fooled into packing away our winter wear. Hold on a few more days before you pack those sweaters away to see if spring is
here to stay or only teasing us. The important message within this week's inspiration is "notice." Just notice what is going around you. Notice the new spring flowers, the budding trees,
the criss-cross of people walking their dogs and kids around the block in the evenings. Notice the soil as you clean out around the front beds, the birds' songs in the mornings, the dew, not frost, on the greening
grass and the chipmunk happily awakened from his winter slumber. Notice your mate or partner. Are they happy or sad today? Is that a smile or a furrowed brow? Notice the person beside you at the
traffic light. Notice yourself and the feelings that spring brings up for you. Just notice. We don't have to wait for winter to make up its mind to stay or go. We can just be in the moment with the
beauty of it all, the rain, the snow, the sunshine, the breezes, the storms, the rainbows. As we turn the calendar's page from March to April, from Winter to Spring, we go on, ready or not for a new season of our
lives. Let us go on with an awareness of God, of ourselves, and of each other, committed to sharing our joys and celebrations and our sorrows and pains. Committed to being like the forsythia, right here,
right now, come snow or shine. Namaste` Robin |
