Dear Unity Friends,
There's a tremendous paradox in this thing called 'prosperity'. Many live
their lives in the delusion that what they can amass and hold on to is the measure of their prosperity. But it seems that no matter how much we
have, we always want more. It's this 'scarcity' state of consciousness, this needing more, that keeps us unaware and unappreciative, and therefore not able to enjoy the abundance of good we already have.
Years ago, the Beatles did a remake of a Motown song titled "Money; That's What I Want". Some of the lyrics were
…"The best things in life are free, but you can keep 'em for the birds and bees, just give me money, that's what I want…..whole lotta money…that's what I want…."
Well, I think we've got things backwards. Let's get the 'horse back before the cart' by following Jesus' teaching to "….seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things
will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:33) True prosperity is measured by how much more we put in life rather than how much we take out of
life. It has nothing to do with how much materiality that we have. The measure you give is the measure you get back.
"And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that you may always have enough of everything and may provide in abundance for every good work." (2 Corinthians 9:8)
With love and blessings, Rev. Jan Seward
