Dear Unity Friends, Author Paul Ferrini writes, "
Spiritual beings do not belong in the past. Christ, Buddha, Krishna, Lao Tzu, and other great spiritual teachers did not die thousands of years ago. If we resonate with their teachings, then they live with us today, in
our hearts and minds and the holy places where we meet." We tend to automatically think of time as linear, moving from the past toward the future. After watching the movie, "
What The Bleep Do We Know?"
again with friends this week-end, I am reminded to stretch my mind and recognize that time is much more than what I can define. Quantum physicists and mathematicians are trying to prove formulas to explain the unexplainable. And it all seems like a foreign language to me.
What I do know and understand is that when you and I show up and observe a happening or situation, we give it the meaning that it has. Kinda like the old saying, "If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a
sound if there is no one to hear it?" When you and I show up at a gathering of like-minded individuals to celebrate Truth Principles and be reminded of the teachings of the Christ, or other spiritual teachers,
we give that experience meaning by bringing our awareness to that moment. The teachings of Jesus come alive when we study them and integrate them into our life experience.
Of the five Unity principles, the one I enjoy teaching the most is the fifth one: we must take the Truth that we know and live it.
What good is knowing Truth if it is not brought forth into the world by our actions? The great ones who have come before us are with us in every moment that we bring the energy of their lives and deeds into
practice. When we care for the sick as Mother Teresa did, when we nonviolently stand against social injustice as Ghandi did, when we seek to inspire those around us to positively change their lives as Jesus did, then
Mother Teresa, Ghandi, and Jesus live again and again through our actions. This week, may you bring your gurus to life by being a living example of their teachings. Namaste` Robin
