Stepping into the March dawn, colors are transformed into tantalizing hues of purples, pinks, and oranges. Unconsciously, I draw in my breath sharply. Surely the
sun and sky have painted this glory often, yet on this day, there is a keener awareness to my being. The murmuring soil beneath my feet, a glimpse of green on the woodland
floor, and a crisp yet promising wind join with the dawn's colorscape to feed an inner hunger. The Earth is waking and calling me to join her.
The long night of winter is turning. During this time, the resting earth takes off her glorious cloak of green and travels to the roots of her being to cultivate energy for the
coming season of light, the next turn on the wheel of life. Perhaps we also have gone within to explore our inner darkness, cleanse ourselves of pieces we wanted
to release, and nourish the beauty that emanates from the very core of our being.
Vernal equinox occurs on March 20 this year when the sun will be dancing directly above the equator,
and the day equals the night. The equinox is a balance point of darkness and light: a still-point that
provides space for a shift in our inner and outer worlds - a moment of release, a moment of healing. Equinox sets the foundation for emergence and manifestation.
As we shift into spring, may we manifest the gleanings of our winter's journeys into the rhythms of our
most grounded selves, matching our cadence with the earth and with each other in a renewed dance of life. Blessed Be!
