What we articulate, we demonstrate! by Robin Volker Dear Unity Friends,
This week we watched an end of a political administration and the beginning of a new one. The Presidency of Barrack Obama marks the beginning of many things for Americans
and the world. For me, it marks the beginning of a leadership by a President who is younger than me. And that makes me want to get busy and accomplish what I
desire to accomplish in this lifetime! Much has been written about the firsts and the beginnings of this historical week. Today, I add to all that has been
said a question to you, my reader: "Isn't it time for a new beginning for you?" The entire country is feeling a sense of change and movement. We can join with that energy and change too. This Sunday, we begin a four-part series based on Rev. Will Bowen's popular book,
Complaint Free World. In 2006, Rev. Bowen introduced the idea of wearing a purple bracelet to help members of his Unity church change their speaking patterns. The
idea was contagious. It spread throughout the church, into the Kansas City community, to other Unity churches, to schools, and around the world. Today, almost
SIX MILLION bracelets have been distributed by the volunteers and staff of Christ Church Unity.
Imagine that! Almost six million people have taken some time in the past two and
one- half years to think about what they say out loud. Amazing! I invite you to join with this elite group. Here is how it works. This Sunday, we will have purple Complaint Free World
bracelets for each of you. By accepting the bracelet, you accept the challenge to go 21 days without
complaining out loud about anything in your life - that is 21 days with no complaining, no criticizing, no gossiping.
Unity in Community took this challenge a couple of years ago. Some of us did pretty well with it; most
of us gave up. I think it is time to rise to the challenge and make a new commitment to change – and that change starts with you and me. Why are we doing this? Because when we complain, we are
focusing on what we don't want. When we complain, we are using our words to set a vibration of attraction for exactly what isn't working for us. What we articulate, we demonstrate!
Come and join us this Sunday as we begin again. We begin with the intention to do our part to create the world we desire.
