At Unity in Community, we are using the word, "green" to describe efforts that promote respect and
compassion for all creation. The idea of "living green" connotes nourishment and healing, new vitality, growth, and longevity.
The Book of Daniel uses the color green to help describe a tree that feeds "all living beings." Daniel 4:101-12 reads:
There was a tree at the center of the earth, and its height was great. The tree grew great and
strong…Its foliage was green and beautiful; its fruit abundant, and it provided food for all. The
animals of the field found shade under it, the birds of the air nested in its branches, and from it all living things were fed.
Unity in Community Spiritual Center chooses to be like this tree, nourishing and healing to those we serve
at home and to the broader world community with our prayers, our actions, our intentions, and our tithes.
The color green signifies growth, new vitality, and strength, which together create a "greening" power. As
we open ourselves to an ever-expanding awareness of God's Presence throughout all creation, we are strengthened and renewed at depth by God's Greening Power. We welcome this opportunity to drink in
God's Goodness and to share our vitality with others.
Join us this Sunday as we explore the idea of "Living Green" from a spiritual and physical point of view. As
we learn ways to intentionally connect with the Holy around us, we know as St. John Dama said in the eighth century, "The world earth is a living icon of the face of God."
