Hello Unity Friends,
I am writing you this week from the Unity International Convention in beautiful (and
hot) Phoenix, Arizona. Rick and I are having a fabulous time connecting with friends, old and new, and getting ideas for ways to enrich our ministry at Unity in Community. A couple of weeks ago in our Sunday service, I referred to the definition of "highest good." After the service, people
approached me, wanting to have the points in the talk made available to them. I am including them for you in this email. These points are taken from the book, "Row, Row,
Row Your Boat," by Steven Lane Taylor. Steven is here in Phoenix this week and sends his blessings to all of you who are sharing his book with others. We hope to bring Steven to Ohio next year.
What is your "Highest Good?"
- Your Highest Good is Good!
It is not the kind of good your mother told you about when she said, "This is going to hurt you, but it is good for you."
God does not intend for any of us to suffer. Not at anytime – not in anyway. What loving parent would ever want his/her child to be in pain?
Your highest good is ALL GOOD and NOTHING but GOOD.
- Your Highest Good is Good for all.
Your good can never come at the expense of someone else's good. God loves us all
equally. This is often a complex idea that is difficult for us to understand. We live in a competitive world. In the 80's there was a popular saying, "He who dies with
the most toys wins."
Because we can't imagine how things can work out good for everyone, we become overwhelmed at the idea that we have to create it so. But with God – all things
are possible, and your highest good is good for all.
